Pain licks my face, wet drops of Emptiness splashing against my skin,

People seem to believe that popularity and friendship ensures happiness and self confidence.
It does not.
Most of, if not all of my friends, do not know or seem to remember
that in high school, I was "Queen of the Losers; Queen of the Freaks".
This was not a title to wear with pride, as being "The Queen"
meant all the hate and ferocious bullying was geared toward me, then
whatever was left over was spared for others.
My agony did not start in High School; it never does.
It began in grade school, elementary.
First, my surname; "Vande Wege". I even began to purposely
misspell it on paper, simply so I'd no longer be tormented
by the "oh so original"
"Vanduh Weejee" or "Wedge" or, good grace forbidding, "Vanduh Wedgie".
As far as I was concerned, my name was
since people didn't seem to believe "Madison" was an appropriate name for a young girl.
